Deparcieux was a maker of sundials in Paris and was also interested in hydrodynamics and devised a way of bringing the water of the river Yvette to Paris (it was carried out after his death).

In 1741 he published tables of sins, tans, secs, log sins and log tans. In 1746 Deparcieux published a treatise on annuities and mortality and it was one of the first statistical works of its kind.
